Getting Involved
The Five Stars Everest Climb is for everyone aged 7 and above. Even if you have never climbed before, now is the time to give it a try, as full tuition and safety supervision will be provided throughout the climb.
Climbing in teams of six the aim is to climb as far as possible in a 2 hour slot. Our target is for the combined height climbed by all the teams to at least equal the height of Everest. There is a competitive element and prizes (see the Rules page for details), with, of course, the main aim to raise as much money as possible in sponsorship for the Five Stars Scanner Appeal.
So what next?
You can assemble a team of six to take part and register.
A registration fee of £120 per team will be required from each team at the time of registration, this is to cover administration and supervision costs, and each team will have to commit to raising a minimum of £600 in sponsorship.
* N.B. if your team is school or youth group based, and the members are under 18 there is no registration fee, and the minimum sponsorship commitment is just £10 per team member.
Not able to find a team
Don’t worry, you can still take part. To register as an individual or small group call Naomi Atkins at the Manchester Climbing Centre tel. 0161 230 7006. She will take your details and add them to the list of individual participants. We will then try our best to put you into team with others of equal experience (or lack of it!) and put you in touch with the other members of your team so you can contact each other before the event.
For individuals registering the fee will be £20 per person plus commitment to raise £100 in sponsorship.
So try something new, have a great time and help put a smile on the face of a sick child.

What next:
- Register your team by sending the completed registration form plus your registration fee to Naomi Atkins at the address on the form.
- Your team will be allocated a time slot and a receipt will be issued.
- Your team gets loads of sponsors.
Before the day of the climb please read the Manchester Climbing Centre’s conditions of use and the competition rules, which are available in the forms section of the website.
You will need to download and complete copies of the adult registration form for each member of the team and these must be brought with you on the day of the climb. Under 18’s have their own form and will need to get a consent form signed by their parent or guardian.
And after all that, most of important of all is that you come and enjoy a great day and support a great cause.
